Background and Development Of NaMo Bharat
This high-tech train was designed by French rolling stock manufacturer Alstom at its engineering centre in Hyderabad, Telangana. The main manufacturing work was going on in Savli, Gujrat. The NaMo Bharat initiative is the part of India’s larger Regional Transit System (RRTS) ; this train was launched on 20th of October, 2023 by our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The main idea behind the launch of these high-tech trains is to address the growing need for efficient regional connectivity. The first line of these NaMo Bharat trains became operational in the Delhi-Meerut corridor, which covers approximately 82 Kilometres. The very first corridor of NaMo Bharat trains is expected to reduce the 20 minutes travel time between Delhi and Meerut.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) on Friday by calling it NaMo Bharat trains. Our Prime Minister had purchased a ticket for riding on this train with school students. The ride completed a 17-km stretch from Sahibabad to Dubai Depot in Uttar Pradesh. The 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor is scheduled to be functional by 2025.
Technological Specifications
This semi-speed train Namo Bharat has features of European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 3 that is an hybrid technology over LTE. These technological advancements ensure safety and operational efficiency by enabling real-time train tracking and communication.
