IRCTC Plans to Run Special Trains for Ganesh Chaturthi for Maharashtra Residents-compressed

Ganesh Puja is the most revered festival for people in Maharashtra. What “Ram Navmi” is for Ayodhya and parts of eastern states of India, a similar craze is for the people of this state. People wait and prepare for this festival way to advance from its actual date of celebration. “Ganpati” is also the lord that bestows right thinking and better approach towards acquiring knowledge in this world. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi falls on 22nd of August, which is in the very next up-coming week. Indian Railways is operating special trains amid Coronavirus. Meanwhile, Railways can start additional special trains on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. RailRecipe, brings details on this report below:

Ganesh Chaturthi Special Train Can Operate From 22nd August

IRCTC has informed that special trains could run between Mumbai to Konkan on Ganesh Chaturthi 2020. These trains will start on the same day. As we all are aware that, every year the Central Railway operates special trains on Ganesh Chaturthi. Railway officials said that a letter was written to the state government for the operation of special trains for the Konkan region. State Disaster Management director, Abhay Yavalkar told the chief operating manager of the Central Railway that special trains could be scheduled for the 10-day long festival starting from 22nd August.

How Many Trains Would Run for Ganesh Festival in Konkan Region?

We haven’t received any confirmation on the exact number of trains that would run. The number of trains will depend on the demand of passenger and occupancy of seat reservation. Also, only confirmed train tickets would work as e-pass and passengers with confirmed seats will travel in these special trains.

IRCTC also asked the railways officials to ensure that all COVID-19 norms, including social distancing and sanitization, are being followed by the state and central governments in trains and railway stations. Railrecipe had already shared the updated guidelines for safe travel during COVID-19.

The Railway Board cleared the proposal to run around 190 special trains. But they haven’t received any written communication to confirm this plan as of now. RailRecipe would update this post as an when the final list of approval of the trains are available. Meanwhile, around 70 buses of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) left for Konkan on Monday.

Around 10,000 people have made bookings to travel by bus. MSRTC is also accepting bookings for travel between August 13 to August 22, when new quarantine rules will come into effect. To travel to Konkan after August 13, a passenger will have to undergo a Covid-19 test and only those whose reports turn out to be negative would be allowed to travel. “If a person has made a reservation and tests positive later before travel, the reservation will not be cancelled,” said a MSRTC spokesperson.
